I reconstructed a public, best-effort game list for the Computer Bild Spiele cover discs from the cbs-2000-09 Internet Archive set, and the current release is now much stricter about what counts as a game.

What This Dataset Is

This project tries to answer a simple question: what games actually appeared on Computer Bild Spiele cover discs?

That sounds easier than it is. The raw material is messy. Early issues can sometimes be helped by structured web sources, but later issues depend heavily on disc-local metadata, OCR, manifest paths, and executable names. That means the extraction layer naturally picks up real games alongside a lot of disc junk: installers, codecs, utilities, editors, walkthrough media, menu labels, and OCR damage.

So the public dataset is not a raw dump. It is a reconstruction layer on top of the raw extraction. The goal is not “keep every string.” The goal is “publish the strongest public game list without pretending uncertain rows are certain.”
